Christmas Tip #3 For A Mindful Family Time

Today is my #3 Christmas tip for fun time together:

Make outdoor appointments with your family

Treat your family like friends

Of course, your children are not your friends! But maybe it would be good for them for once to be treated with the honours of adults meeting. Take them out for a coffee or a tea in an unusual place. Have a drink with your family, brother, sister like you’d have with your friends.

Time to spend but no time for real

The other day I was enjoying a very conversation with a friend. She is always enthusiastic and confident, with a warming smiling face. In few seconds she entirely became upset when explaining that she never understood why her sister could not find a little time to have tea or lunch with her once in a while. They live 30 min train apart; she was willing to make the trip to her place. She was confused about the fact that her sister had time to buy beautiful presents for her children and sending them to her, but not to stop 30 min in a cafe with her. Because I think that people think it’s more simple just to use a credit card and wait in line to pay for something, thinking of all the other duties they have. They think they can check one more line on their “To-Do list.” It is much more difficult to have a meaningful chat with someone close, especially if we did not see them in a long time.

All I want for Christmas is you

Think about the people you are treating by sending great presents. Just give them a little bit of your time.
